This article gives you guidelines on how to proceed in problem-solving regarding the GigE cameras in DewesoftX.
Network Card Interface and PC setup
NIC and PC require a specific setup configuration in order to meet the requirements for the proper operation of GigE cameras. The first important prospect is that the PC has a Gigabit Network interface card interface. We advised against using the USB-Ethernet adapter interfaces in order to replace the lacking interface. For a detailed explanation continue to the attached PDF file: GigE-Vision-Cameras-NIC-PC-Setup-EN
Using two or more network cards doesn't recognize multiple cameras, only partially
Check if network cards have equal subnet mask. You should configure them in a way that each network card has its own subnet.
This is the right configuration of network cards. If more than two network cards are used please follow analogy below.
While you're configuring a network card check that only one subnet is used in Advanced settings. If there are more remove the rest of them.
For Advanced TCP/IP Settings follow the path: Ethernet Properties/Properties/Advanced
REG_EXPAND_SZ error when installing the OptoMotive OptoStream SDK
Start the Registry Editor (regedt32.exe)
- Move to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Environment
- Look at the Path in the right-hand pane and check the type (its the second part), e.g.Path:
- - REG_EXPAND_SZ: %SystemRoot% etc.
- If the type is not REG_EXPAND_SZ (it could be REG_SZ) then perform the next steps
- Double click on Path and select the content and press Ctrl-C to copy to the clipboard (better that you copy it to the Notepad)
- While Path is still selected, select Delete from the Edit menu (or click the Del key). Confirm the deletion
- Make sure "Environment" is selected in the left hand pane and select "Add Value" from the Edit menu
- Enter a name as Path (note the capital P in path), and type REG_EXPAND_SZ. Click OK
- Double click Path and Ctrl-V to copy back in the info you copied into the clipboard. Click OK
- Close the Registry Editor
- You can also check HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\SystemRoot and make sure that this REG_SZ value contains the proper path (e:\winnt).
The marked type should be REG_EXPAND_SZ
Filter driver is not installed
Check that you don't have DewesoftX and OptoStream Viewer opened at once. Both programs are managed to use the same driver which means one occupies it and disables access to the other application.
DS-CAM-600 camera is not recognized in DewesoftX as well as isn't in OptoStream Viewer
DS-CAM-600 camera has an LED light integrated which indicates the operation mode of the camera. Three different colors indicate different problems. Red or orange means that there is a problem with a configuration. You should power-cycle the camera and wait that it's booted again. Green light means that everything works fine. Please note that the camera needs a few minutes before the light switch to the green since there is an operating system on the camera that needs to be booted.
