Why this FAQ?

Windows 11 is Microsoft's latest major operating system, released in October 2021 as the successor to Windows 10. Since the beginning of 2025, most companies are migrating to Windows 11 to keep systems current and secure. The OS requires TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot—features many older systems, including ours, lack. To ensure transparency and minimize confusion, we've prepared this FAQ covering the most common questions about Windows 11 and its hardware requirements.

What should I know about Windows 11 as far as my Dewesoft devices are concerned?

  1. What are the minimum system requirements for Windows 11?
    • CPU:
      • 1 GHz or faster, 2 or more cores, 64-bit compatible
      • Must be at least 8th Gen Intel or newer
    • RAM:
      • 4 GB or more
    • Storage:
      • 64 GB or more of available storage
    • System firmware:
      • UEFI, Secure Boot capable
    • TPM:
      • TPM version 2.0

  2. Why should the CPU be at least 8th Gen Intel or newer?
    • This generation is the first to consistently support TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, VBS, and other security features that fit the minimum requirements for Windows 11. Earlier generations (such as the 6th Gen "Skylake" or 7th Gen "Kaby Lake") require a separate TPM chip or have limited TPM of its older versions.

  3. Are the SBOXre, SBOXe, and SBOXse compatible with Windows 11 if I order them today?
    • Because TPM 2.0 is required to run Windows 11 it is compatible only if SBOX has Konton PC that supports TPM2.0. All products sold with 11th Gen CPU running windows 10 can be upgraded to Windows 11, and any SBOX device that you order today should also support Windows 11.

  4. I have an SBOX with a Serial number (SN) XXXXXXX. Can this device be upgraded to Windows 11?
    • Compatibility depends on the CPU installed in the device.
  5. As far as the Hardware is concerned, my SBOX supports Windows 11. How can I perform an upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11? How?
  6. My SBOX device does not support Windows 11. How should I proceed?
  7. Do I have to pay for an upgrade to Windows 11?
  8. What about my older devices - the Krypton CPU and the MINITAURs? Can those be upgraded to Windows 11?
    • As of the time of writing this FAQ, the Krypton CPU and the MINITAURs are not Windows 11 compliant, and therefore cannot be upgraded to this version of the OS.

  9. How do I proceed if the device It would like to upgrade isn't working, or has missing components?
  10. Will the GPS module be transferred from the old device to the new one?
    • The GPS modules in the new units are different from the old ones: the Neo8 operates at 10 Hz, while the Mosaic X5 operates at 100 Hz, so the modules are not interchangeable.

  11. Is there a separate charge for a new Windows license?
    • No. We do not charge separately for new Windows licenses, as you have already paid for the license.

  12. I have a question that wasn't answered in this FAQ.
